Emmys 2017 Recap

Hello again to all of our FAB readers! We are back to give you all the load down on our favorite wins from this years Emmys.

First up, the one and only Donald Glover made history by becoming the first African American to win an Emmy for the best directing comedy award. However, his victorious night did not end there, he also ended up going home with an Emmy for best actor in a comedy prize. As an actor musician, director, producer, and more there not telling what next in store for Glover!

Another first, Lena Waithe became the first African American woman to take home an Emmy for best comedy series writer for her part in “Master of None”. She gave a homage to the L.G.B.Q.T.I.A. family and what each of them bring to the world as a whole.

In addition, females continued to dominate the night with “Big Little Lies” taking home Emmys for best mini series, Jean-Marc Vallée won for directing, Nicole Kidman for lead actress, Laura Dern for supporting actress and Alexander Skarsgard for supporting actor. A second season now seems inevitable even though the series as a whole was never intended to continue after the end of season one.

Finally, rounding out our favorite wins of the night “The Handmaid’s Tale” came out winning big! Emmy wins included best drama, Elizabeth Moss with best actress in a drama, Bruce Miller with best writing in a drama, Reed Morano with best directing in a drama, and Ann Dowd with with best supporting actress in a drama. This series represents Hulu’s first big breakout hit and a network. While other streaming providers like Netflix are better known, Hulu is the first to win an Emmy for a Drama series.
